My Story

I have worked as a therapist and anti-violence advocate in a variety of settings including transitional housing, residential addictions rehabilitation facilities, as well as municipal, provincial and federal correctional settings. I also hold the role of clinical educator specializing in supervision, professional ethics, and grief and loss in a graduate training program.

I have served in frontline, professional, educational, and leadership capacities and have a passion to apply my experience in the trenches of frontline work to help the helpers. I have lived experience of the challenges of our work including vicarious PTSD, burnout, systemic fatigue as well as the joys of helping work in engaging the sorrows of the world with compassion, and solidarity in our shared humanity. I hold the belief of the philosopher Socrates, who taught us that the job of educators is to be a “midwife” to the inherent wisdom that lies within each of us.

In my personal professional life, I seek to uphold the fundamental dignity of all those I meet with—including clients, workers, psychotherapists, friends, and community—and to support others in accessing their innate capacities for courage and care, and to enact justice through the relational encounter of psychotherapy, supervision, and education.

Meet my consultant...

If you choose to work with me, sooner or later, you'll see Lexi, my "consultant" pop up on screen. Lexi is a sweet and silly gal who mostly loves to rest and play. In her own simple wisdom, she reminds me to slow down, embrace the absurd, and remember that we don't have to do anything extraordinary to earn love--just being is enough.
